Missions & International Community Health
This exciting 2
year program can equip you to minister spiritually and physically
across cultural lines as Health Missionaries in developing countries.
The first year is similar to our Missions and Cultural Studies
program, with some variations. During this year you will study the
Bible, missionary ministry, missionary life, cultures and customs and
world religions.
The second year,
following the paramedic model, consists of training in the basic
sciences concentrating on Community Health Care, and Community Health
Assessment and Development. It has been said that an ounce of
prevention is worth a pound of cure. Nowhere is this more true than in
developing countries. Skills such as suturing wounds, giving injections
and basic dental care will be taught. This program prepares you to
evaluate the community in which you will serve by formulating a
practical response incorporating your resources and role as defined by
the local standards of care and regulations.
At
the completion of your classroom training you will practice your skills
during an eight week internship under the supervision of an experienced
health missionary who is serving in a developing country. Most
importantly you will learn to integrate your faith with your health
ministry by caring for the whole person: spirit, soul and body.
Some courses may transfer into this program, Click Here for more information.
